Choosing a worktop material can be stressful and we hope that the design advice and guidance we provide here helps clear any doubt or queires. Durability & Resistance of your chosen surface is important and can also affect the design aspects regarding colour and marbling. Generally, most would opt for a hard wearing family kitchen worktop. Design advice for finishing touches to your chosen surface material for example 'upstands' and 'edge profiles' can drastically change the design of your kitchen - mostly for the better.
Browse our extensive range of samples from our suppliers and discuss your requirements. We have a large selection of exotic natural stone slabs in our yard which at least can offer a source of inspiration. Alternatively, browse our online stone colour galleries or contact us through our form
Standard edge profiles such as 'bevel' or 'pencil' are effective on any thickness, if you are considering something a little more, we can provide advice as part of our service. The thickness of your worktop will be more important, it is possible that additional stone can be joined for an elaborate edge. Most stone slabs are available in 12, 20 or 30mm thicknesses
Consider the design aspects such as upstands, splash-backs and under-sill sections to compliment new windowsills. All in the same stone will make your kitchen flow, and if you have chosen a marbled or patterened worktop - and providing you have sufficient material (we will provide advice), we can ensure that the pattern flows through too.
Our trained surveyors will visit to make final measurements prior to cutting your worktop. Where necessary, corex sheeting will be used to aid with templating. Any last features that need to be added must be discussed with the technician at this time, such as rounded corners on a breakfast bar or holes cut for pop-up sockets.
Yourself or a representative should be on site, and any plastering work should be completed. Base units / end panels and any additional supports must be installed and level where required. New Sinks, hobs and taps must be on site. Existing hobs, taps & worktops must be disconnected.
All your worktops are bespoke and tailored to fit your specifications from measurements taken during templating. Any changes to the position or in the case of additional units added to your kitchen after templating or during our fabricating service that affects the installation or material requirement may incur additional charges. It must be understood that once the stone has been cut it cannot be uncut!
We fabricate all or our natural Stone and composite surfaces from slabs either sourced ourselves or from our many suppliers, ready to be fitted by our installation team. We are certified and licensed fabricators so you can be sure that our service will be to the highest standards, prompt, efficient and within agreed timescales.
Fabrication of your natural or composite material will involve several processes all lifted initially by forklift and then from machine to machine by vacuum suction on a crane. Firstly, the worktop material is cut into sections according to the dimensions recorded during our templating service by a bridge saw. All straight edges are then polished by an edge polishing machine before design loaded onto a CNC machine to make any cut outs, profile edges or bespoke shapes. All the pieces are then carted into another area of our workshop where design & details are hand finished by experienced stonemasons.
Consumers’ statutory right of cancellation does not apply to orders which are made to measure. The material is non-refundable once cut and as this is a bespoke worktop service the intial deposit which secures the stone, templating and fabrication process will not be refunded.
It is important that parking arrangements for our vehicle is considered. Initially we require our vehicle to be as near as possible to the entrance which is closest to the location of installation. Once worktops have been unloaded, we will be happy to relocate our vehicle if necessary. As you may understand, both natural stone and composite stones products are extremely heavy. If it is a requirement that we must park off-site after unloading, please provide detail on parking prior to the installation date so that we can make prior arrangements.
Ensure that existing sinks and hobs are disconnected and removed and water, gas and eletricity supplies are isolated at the location of installation. We may require water and electricity during installation so, if possible do not switch off supplies at the mains. The installation team will position worktops according to the agreed template. Worktops will be siliconed to the units and a silicone beading will be applied to the underside of the worktop where it meets the front of the units, all joints are resin glued together. Installation will take approximately 2-3 hours to complete, for larger projects allow a full day.
Undermounted sinks will be fitted to the underside of worktops with silicon, make sure you have arrangements in place to have the water, gas and electric supplies re-connected to appliances. It is advised that ceramic sinks are provided with additional support. If you have opted for Natural Stone and depending on the type, additional resin supports may be advised where sink and hob cut outs have been made.
Upon completion we request that the worktop installation is inspected by the client and then the remaining balance is paid in full. Any questions can be answered and advice will be given regarding the ongoing care of your worktops.
