What is Dekton?

Dekton Manufacturing Process

TSP (Technology of Sintered Particles)

Dekton by Cosentino of Spain is manufactured using TSP (Technology of Sintered Particles).

Raw Materials

To prevent cross-contamination, carefully chosen raw materials from around the world are separately stored.

Particle Sizing

After purification a mixture of the raw materials (formula) goes through a wet grinding process to mix and grind particles to a specific size. The size of the particles determine the speed and course of the chemical reaction that becomes the final coloured and conditioned dekton mixture.

Final Mixture

Drying of the mixture by atomisation, whilst the chemical reactions are under way, the grains that are formed constitute the powder of the final mixture. A humid environment allows the powder to be sorted into separate recepticles according to its properties and colouration.

Heat and Pressure

The recepticles that hold the final mixture are positioned at specific sections on a belt and form a continous slab. along the belt the slabs mixtures are separated into several sections and then pressued until highly compacted. Finally, high temperatures are added to trigger further controlled chemical reactions which gives Dekton its unique properties.

Final Chemical Composition

The chemical composition of Dekton is fully inorganic: Analysed final chemical composition of Dekton (example): aluminium silicates, amorphous, silica, less than 11% crystalline silica, zircon and inorganic pigments. Dekton technical characteristics compliance is as tiles both for indoor and outdoor flooring applications.
